MEET THE FAMILY
The Iles family have lived at Durian since 2011. Philippa and Ross run Durian Escapes with the help of Ross' parents Christine and Bob, and their teenage daughters.Â
Ross is a builder and property developer and Philippa is a Positive Psychology Coach and runs a Social media Agency.
THE AREA
Tucked away from the crowds and the perfect location to explore Cornwall. We are ‘the middle of nowhere, but the middle of everywhere!’ only a stone's throw from the lively town of Falmouth with its hidden coves and sailing waters, and equidistant from the sprawling north coast with its sandy surfing beaches.
DURIAN HOUSE
When we arrived in 2011 there was running water and electricity, but not a lot else! We have renovated, built, created gardens, planted over 1000 trees and poured our love into our home.
There are 10 acres for our guests to explore and use. Gardens, Meadows, Woodland and a Stream.
Walking distance to the village of Stithians with its local pub, church, tennis courts and bowling green.
ENVIRONMENT
Since arriving at Durian house we have worked hard to consider our environment and the footprint we leave behind.Â
We worked with the Woodland trust in 2021 and planted our two large meadows with over 1000 trees. It was a massive project that took us 6 days but we love walking through the fields and checking on our 'babies' growth!
MEET THE ANIMALS!
We have three retired shetland ponies; Annie, Tinkerbell and Healther. They are very friendly (overly so!) and love meeting new people. We also have two Spaniels, Luna and Willow. Luna is friendly and will always appear when it's food time! We rescued Willow a few years ago she is extremely friendly and soppy!
